The Minotaur Fitness Xtreme is a mid to upper level indoor cycling bike that is designed for home use. Featured is a 39 pound flywheel, a belt drive, and a digital monitor that displays time, distance, speed, and calories burned. Included is a steel frame, a rear shock absorber, and two types of handlebars. The resistance is adjusted with a turn of the knob. The pedals have cleats that are designed for the serious cyclist. One side of the pedal is a platform with teeth that works for any type of shoe. The seat and handlebars are adjustable, and a water bottle is located near the flywheel. Maximum weight is 300 pounds. 1 year warranty of moving parts.
Pros
The 39 pound flywheel is heavy enough to provide a nice, smooth ride. The belt drive is a nice surprise, as generally bikes in this price range are chain driven. Nonetheless, allows for much quieter operation and is higher quality in general.
The steel frame brings sturdiness and durability. The maximum user weight of 300 pounds tells you that it’s strong. It’s also pretty solid when standing up, as you might expect.
The two-way clipless pedal is optimal regardless of what shoes you wear, but it allows users to wear special shoes and feel completely attached to the bike.
The seat is micro-adjustable, which gives users the chance to find just the right height. Bull Horn and Aero Handlebars are included so you can change positions throughout the ride.
As a bonus, 5 free spinning videos are included. I have no idea what kind of quality they are, but this adds to the overall value. I really haven’t seen any other brands offer this, so you at least appreciate the effort on Minotaur’s end.
The digital display is a nice add-on for those who want to track time, distance, etc..
It looks the part of a quality indoor cycling bike, which may or may not matter to you.
The low cost of this bike is almost surprising. Based on all the features it possesses, I thought it would be at least $100-$150 more. There is pretty good value here.
Cons
The shock absorber doesn’t really make a lot of sense to me. I have personally never seen one on am indoor cycling bike. Nonetheless, a customer noted that the absorber was too firm, and really isn’t adjustable.
Summary
The Minotaur Fitness X-treme is a quality indoor cycling bike that offers very good value. A 39 pound flywheel and belt drive provide a smooth, quiet operation. The steel frame will hold up long-term, and the two-way pedal is a nice feature. The only downside is the unnecessary shock absorber placed in the rear.
